Adani Wilmar, India’s leading edible oil manufacturer, is all set to go green. The company, which makes groundnut oil, sunflower oil, alongside oils from soyabean and rice bran, will introduce eco-friendly packaging for all its products. The company will get its innovative green packaging done by Vishakha Polyfab Pvt Ltd, the company’s dedicated packaging supplier, stated a press release issued on Wednesday.

Kartikeya Vikram Sarabhai, an educator and advocate of environment sustainability, said that Adani has set a good example by implementing this eco-friendly initiative.

Hopefully, more edible companies follow suit, he said.

Adani currently exports its products to nineteen countries. Besides edible oil, the firm is also making its mark in its other edible business portfolio that comprises rice, pulses, and hydrogenated vegetable fat, commonly known as vanaspati.

The company’s COO, Angshu Mallick, said that the eco-friendly, one-litre packaging will first be rolled out to edible oils portfolio, which falls under the company’s flagship Fortune brand. The packaging will gradually be rolled out to Adani’s other sub-brands.
