Thousands of investors took part in the Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit hosted at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit and congratulated the state on grabbing the top spot for the most proffered Indian destination for investors. Appreciating the efforts of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Modi said that the state is seeing a new ray go hope. He said that the state has done well in excelling in all areas, including education, agriculture and creation of more jobs. Modi announced a new defence industrial corridor in the state, which would help in the growth of Bundelkhand region.

The summit focused on investments in tourism, manufacturing, civil aviation, agro, renewable energy, dairy and food processing.

The state government will boost a total of 53 universities, 4345 colleges, and 168 polytechnics, alongside several research institutes, Centers of Excellence and other vocational institutes in Uttar Pradesh.

Jio will invest over Rs 20,000 crore in the state, and the telecom provider aims to be present in every remote village in Uttar Pradesh by end of this year.
