Ever since Verge developer, Justin Vendetta announced that Verge would be making a huge partnership with a very large company, the price of the coin has skyrocketed from around 3.8 cents to over 9 cents! With just four days left until the big announcement, people are dying to know who Verge’s mysterious partnership is with.

Flipkart Verge’s partner?

While many people had their focus on Western companies, there was not much consideration of any Indian - let alone Asian companies being the potential partner... until now. A recent tweet from Flipkart has many believing that they could, in fact, be Verge’s mysterious partner.

In a recently posted tweet (below), Flipkart mentions a partnership “so BIG in value, Bitcoin feels insecure!”

The tweet hit home for many people in the "Vergefam". Not only did they mention Bitcoin - which many people in the Verge community see as inferior to Verge not only in terms of technology but also in terms of privacy. They also mentioned April 17th as the date of a huge partnership, which coincidentally also falls on the same day that Verge is meant to reveal their partnership! Gasp.

Who is Flipkart?

Flipkart is India’s largest e-commerce platform. They have over 100 million registered users and make over $3.1 billion revenue a year.

Furthermore, Walmart is expected to acquire a majority stake in the company very soon, for between $10 to $12 billion. Industry leader Amazon is also allegedly interested, as both companies are keen on grabbing the India market.

Why they could be the one

In previous correspondences, Justin Vendetta gave some hints about the company that Verge is partnering with.

1. It has a large network of high traffic sites.

2. It represents an enormous potential market with a global reach that will compete with multiple fiat currencies.

Both these criteria seem to fit Flipkart very closely, as Flipkart also has a large network of e-commerce sites under their belt. India is also a huge potential market with a population of over 1.3 billion people and an e-commerce sector that is expected to grow to $200 billion in a decade.

There is some speculation that Flipkart is merely talking about a new phone release and could simply be trolling everyone. If that is the case, then GG Flipkart team, you got us good on that one!

However, if this truly is the partnership we have all been waiting for, would it live up to the hype and meet everyone’s expectations? Or would it be yet another disappointment for the Vergefam? That will remain to be seen on April 17.
