Indian actress Sridevi died of cardiac arrest in Dubai on Sunday morning. She was 54. The actress who was last seen in the movie, “Mom” was in Dubai to attend her nephew’s wedding.

Her sudden demise has shaken the whole nation and Indian communities around the world. The versatile actress made her mark not only in Bollywood, but also in South Indian cinema. Sridevi has starred opposite actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and Jeetendra.

Down South, she starred opposite legends like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Shiva Kumar, and Arvind Swamy.

In fact, last year, Baahubali director SS Rajamouli announced that he is contemplating his next fantasy project, which might feature actress Sridevi and Malayalam star, Mohanlal.

The Indian film industry was shocked and saddened by her untimely death. Actor Kamal Haasan, who has known Sridevi since she was a child, was in the depths of despair over her death. The actor, in his tweet, took a nostalgic look at his 1980s hit, “Sadma,” where he worked alongside Sridevi. He said that he is reminded of the melancholic song from the movie. “I’ve watched watched Sridevi transform from a little girl to a dutiful wife and a loving mother,” he said.

Rajinikanth, who acted alongside Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the village-centric blockbuster, “Padhinaaru Vayadhiniley,” expressed his sadness for the dearly departed actress.

The star took to his Twitter account and said that he has lost a very dear friend. The film industry has lost a legend, he added. Rajinikanth and Sridevi have acted in many Tamil movies—all of which went on to become a commercial success.

For actress Preity Zinta, Sridevi was an all-time favorite.

Mourning the loss of the beautiful actress who was too young to die, Zinta noted that life is “fragile and unpredictable.” “May God give peace to her soul and strength to the family,” Zinta added in her tweet.

Just a bad dream?

Many of Sridevi’s fans feel this is just a bad dream: “Can I erase this morning? Current thoughts are too disturbing.

Actor Anupam Kher, who has acted with Sridevi in many movies, took to Twitter to express his despair. He said that he is shocked and jolted. “Am I having a horrible dream? Sridevi no more? So many amazing memories…” he reminisced.

In a series of tweets, actress Munmun Dutta said she is “beyond shocked and numbto hear about the death of Sridevi early in the morning. “It’s just UNBELIEVABLE…Too shocked,” she tweeted.

“Oh how much we all loved her…in a state of disbelief. Still can’t fathom the fact that she is no more. Seems like a bad dream. Oh I wish someone tells me it’s all a hoax. That she is alive and healthy and happy,” she added.

Actress Hema Malini has been a family friend of Sridevi’s, and the news of her death came as a shock to Hema Malini and her family. “Sridevi’s sudden passing away has left me in deep shock. Can’t imagine how such a bubbly person, a wonderful actor, is no more.She has left a void in the industry that cannot be filled. Boney is a good friend & I’ve seen their daughters grow up. My prayers are with the family,” she said.

Actress Madhuri Dixit said that Sridevi has left behind a legacy.

“Just woke up to the terrible news of Sridevi passing. My heart goes out to her family. The world has lost a very talented person who left behind a huge legacy in film,” she said in her tweet.
