The Oscar Awards are globally respected, and people all over the world follow them on TV and radio. This year's Oscar Awards which were the 90th edition were as usual greatly looked forward to by people all over the world. Indians will be happy to know that Hollywood honored the memory of two of India's leading stars of yesteryears namely #Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor. Republic World has reported that both these film stars had their images flashed on the screen as a song was sung in tribute to all the departed stars and those connected with films at the last Oscar Awards function.

Sridevi passed away just a few days back by drowning accidentally in the bathtub.

She was 54 years old and is considered as the first superstar of #Bollywood. She, however, did not act in any Hollywood film.Shashi Kapoor was the youngest son of the great filmmaker Raj Kapoor. He was a top hero during his days, and he passed away in December 2017 after a prolonged illness Shashi Kapoor acted in many English films and was well known in the United Kingdom and the USA. Hollywood acknowledged both the stars at the recent Oscar award ceremony.


Bollywood is second only to Hollywood in world cinema and produces the largest numbers of films in the world. In the last couple of years, the world has taken note of Bollywood films, and Bollywood actors have been winning awards at the #oscars. A couple of years back the movie "Slumdog Millionaire" won the best film award and the music director Rehman won the best music director award.

Bollywood films have a vast clientele among the Indian diaspora, and the Arabs and Indian films are very popular in the Middle East and the UAE. The Indian Film Industry like Hollywood is over 100 years old and despite limitations of language, films produced in India are patronized by many people all over the earth.


The Oscar Awards have a special halo, and generally, they are considered to be the last word of recognition, as far as world Cinema is concerned. Many decades back the awards were confined mostly to white people, but in the previous two decades the Oscars have become very representatives of world cinema, and even black actors and actresses have been honored. The Oscars have now transformed themselves into a truly Global award, and it is a matter of great honor that the names of these two stars Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor work flashed before the audience who was watching the awards function recognized the greats of Bollywood
