“Veere Di Wedding” is a romantic comedy which comes as a whiff of fresh air in a season of mediocrity of ideas. Produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, and Nikhil Dwivedi, the female chum’s comedy film is directed by Shashanka Ghosh. It is one of the most eagerly awaited movies, and there are many reasons which make this flick special. The film is scheduled to be released on June 1.

Two Divas of Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Sonam Kapoor

The flick is helmed by Shashanka Ghosh who also directed the remake of the Hrishikesh Mukherjee “Khobsoorat” and starred Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan and sonam kapoor in 2014.

The script of “Veere Di Wedding” has been penned by Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri. The film has been shot in Mumbai, Delhi and exotic locales in Phuket (Thailand).

Producer Rhea Kapoor had a tough time trying to bring the top two divas of Bollywood, kareena kapoor Khan, and Sonam Kapoor. She was also able to convince Ekta Kapoor of “Balaji Films” on board and co-produce the movie.

Storyline new and fresh

Talking to PTI, Kareena Kapoor revealed that the film is a bit off track and is the story of four friends and the story is not the usual Mills and Boon type romance where the boy-meets-girl and love blossoms. Sonam Kapoor, another leading diva of the tinsel world, held similar views when talking about the film with PTI.

She lamented the fact that there is a paucity of female-oriented cinema in India in stark contrast to Hollywood where such films are regularly made and go on to become blockbusters.

Swara Bhaskar-The angry feminine

Actress Swara Bhaskar will also be sharing space with the other ladies. Swara who recently ruffled a lot of feathers by her open letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali deriding him for making a film like “Padmavat” which glorified Sati and Jauhar, is very excited to be a part of “Veere Di Wedding” and said that it is right not to have controversies.

Talking to IANS, she said that having multiple actresses in one frame did not cause any problem and all the team worked and gave their best to the characters they were playing.

The storyline is excellent, and she was pleased to be a part of this venture.

She added that the society feeds the insecurities in the woman to restrain them from realizing their full potential. These insecurities could be about their body or her inner self. However, there is an ever-increasing number of women who have taken their chances and after beating the odds, have reached the pinnacle of fame.

The film will be dominated by the female characters, and this is evident from the first look rushes and the posters. Interestingly all the producers are women, Rhea (Kapoor) and Ekta (Kapoor).

Four actresses will be playing the lead role, and the other two ladies are Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania of “Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji” fame. The film is inspired by the book “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” written by Ann Brashares.

The book has been suitably adapted for Indian audiences, and we hear that the movie is set against the backdrop of a big fat Indian wedding which the four women will be attending and also celebrate the rising fortunes of modern Indian Woman.

Kareena Comeback film? When was I out?

The flick has been dubbed as the comeback film of Kareena Kapoor who after a brief hiatus when she gave birth to an adorable boy “Taimur” is now back full steam to get on with work. Bebo had given birth to Taimur in December 2016 and was soon back to a rigorous gym session.

The first shooting of “Veera….” started in August. Interestingly Taimur accompanied her mother to the sets and was the connoisseur of everyone’s eyes. Bebo also took offense to the film being called a comeback movie because she was always around, even during the late stages of her pregnancy.
