This month there are some new flicks which have been lined up for release, and the genre includes comedy, thriller, and biography. Films with actors and actresses like Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt are already released, and the audience can expect a treat this month.

“102 Not Out” is a cute and chubby film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor enacting the role of a 102 years father and his 70 years old son respectively. The duo has endeared the audience in the past with films such as “Amar Akbar Anthony,” “Naseeb” and “Coolie.”

The last film they had done together was “Ajooba.” However, it is 27 years since the two have come together and the last flick they did was “Ajooba” which was produced by Shashi Kapoor.

“102 Not Out” has been described by its director Umesh Shukla as an “ageless comedy” and the film revolves around the lives of a 102 years old father and his 70-year-old son.

The plot of the flick is interesting. Both father and son are alike as cheese and chalk. While Babulal played by Rishi Kapoor is a depressed old man who feels his life is worthless, his father Dattatraya Vakharia played by Bachchan is full of life and lively.

Both the actors have been heavily made using prosthetics so that they look their age. The flick also features the song “Badumbaaa” which has both Amitabh and Rishi Kapoor lending their voice. The flick has been adapted from a Gujarati play of the same name.

Box-office earnings

The light-hearted comedy with a message struck the right chord of the audience who loved the performance of two of the legends of Bollywood.

On day two the flick again surpassed expectations and raked in Rs 5.53 crore at the box office. As word of mouth spread the details of the film, it is expected to do even better in the coming days.

Film rating

The film has garnered mixed reviews from the critics. For an industry which tenders to a young audience, this film truthfully and creatively shows the problems of the older generation. On its first day of release, the movie managed to garner Rs 3.52 crore at the box-office and exceeded the predictions of analysts.
