It is May 1, 2018, and the birthday of one of the most beloved stars of Tamil cinema. He is often labeled as the George Clooney of Tamil cinema. For his fans, it has been a long celebration which has been going on for the last 60 days. The celebrations of Ajith fans have reached feverish levels.

He is one of the most respected stars in the Tollywood film industry. His ever-increasing fan list includes all his co-stars who were bowled over by his humility and good Samaritan persona. No doubt his films have been major hits, but his off-screen activities have won over his critics, fans and co-stars alike.

However there is some disappointment for Ajith fans, he will not be in Chennai for his birthday. Ajith has been outspoken when it comes to celebrating his birthday by his fans. He has urged them not to waste money and erect huge cutouts and burst crackers. The actor will leave for some undisclosed location with his family.

It is a long and cherished film career for the 47-year-old actor. In a culture which seeks to hero worship its film stars, Ajith is remembered for his other activities along with his acting, much akin Rajinikanth.

He is often seen as a worthy successor to Rajnikant. Starting his career as a supporting star, he slowly and steadily climbed up the career graph. Ajith was always a rebel and belonged to an upper-middle-class family.

At an age when most of his friends were toiling to make a career by focusing on academics, he left school to become a mechanic.

He tried a large number of professions which included an Aero Modeller, racer, photographer, cook, and a retailer in a textile processing agency.

In the mid-2000’s after a string of failures, it finally served as a springboard to superstardom. He played a senior man, an effeminate dancer and a mentally disturbed, cold-blooded killer.

The film had run into some problems was finally done and roared at the box office. He earned his second Filmfare award in 2001 for his role in “Citizen.” He again played multiple roles, but the film was only a moderate success. However, he was much acclaimed for his role as Subramani, the fisherman. He also started to be referred as Thala after “Dheena.”

Another film which earned him critical acclaim was “Vaali.” Released in 1999, it helped to makeover his image as a romantic hero and helped to establish him as a serious actor.

His sensitive portrayal as the mute and disturbed twin won him much acclaim.

Angry young man

He finally started acting his age in “Yennai Arindhaal” where he played an undercover cop. He donned his Salt and Pepper avatar and resembled his true rustic self. The father-daughter relationship was beautifully portrayed in this romantic-action drama though it was not a big hit. He was joined by Anushka and Trisha.

Ajith will be traveling to Hyderabad to commence shooting of his next flick,”Vishwam.” The shooting will start from May 7, and Sathya Jyothi Films produced the flick. Nayantara will be playing Ajith’s love interest.

Already a big set of a village has been constructed in Hyderabad, and Director Siva has plans to finish the first schedule of the flick.

Imaan has composed music for the film, and the flick is expected to hit the screen on Diwali eve.

Many celebs took to Twitter to wish the actor on his birthday, Kichcha Suddep tweeted, "Wishing the best to a man who walked ,, ran,,,slipped ,,,fell,,stood up and conquered. Happy returns Ajith sir,,,have a great year."

Vijay Sethupathi tweeted, "Wishing a very Happy Birthday to the inspiration of all actors, Ajith sir"

Radhikaa Saratkumar tweeted, "Happy birthday dear Ajith, a person who crosses hurdles and mountains with ease, more strength to you."
