Rama Navami was celebrated across the nation on March 25, 2018. Hindus across the country will be bidding adieu to the spring festival Chaitra Navratri 2018 with Ram navami, which will be celebrated on March 25, and 26. Ram Navami falls on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha or the bright half of the Hindu calendar. Millions of Hindus across the nation keep fast and seek blessings from “Maryada Purushottam” as Lord Rama is also known. The culmination of the fasting for one week occurs on Ram Navami.

There has been a lot of confusion about the actual dates of the festival with some states declaring March 25 as Ram Navami while some states have declared March 26 as a holiday.

The confusion is because two states have announced the festival on two different dates. While Andhra Pradesh government has declared March 25 as Ram Navami, Telangana government has declared Ram Navami holiday on 26. The Telangana Government will be following the dictates of the Vedic Committee of the Sri Seetharachandra Swamy Temple in Bhadrachal.

Hindus believe that Lord Rama was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu who was born on Earth to kill the illustrious king of Lanka; Raavan who intoxicated with the boons bestowed upon him was making life difficult for the noble souls on the planet. Rama Katha extolling the virtues and exploits of Lord Rama are held in temples and households across India.

Ram Navami is not limited only to worship Lord Rama but also his brother Laxman and wife goddess Sita and trusted Sevak Lord Hanuman.

Anjana Putra or Hanuman is not seen in the garbhagriha and is present near Dwaja Sthambam facing Sri Rama.

The Devasam Board of the temple manages the temple, and its Chairman is Narasimhan who oversees the day to day activities of the temple. Numerous cultural occasions are celebrated in the sprawling ramparts of the ancient temple.

The temple also organizes Setharamala Kalyavam and free mass weddings. From Friday the Sri Rama Rao celebrations started and will continue for the coming five days. Shri Ramnavami Celebrations will continue to March 26.
