The Indian government has abolished the haj subsidy, and the political parties have started extracting their share of political mileage. The Congress has been rather ambiguous while expressing its views. However, it did not fail to urge the center to implement the ruling of the Supreme Court entirely. The former Bihar Chief Minister, lalu yadav who has donned the cloak of secularism has attacked the move of the center to stop giving Haj subsidies.

Lalu attacks center’s move to stop Haj subsidy

Lalu Yadav, the flamboyant, political bigwig from Bihar has been incarcerated in Ranchi jail after he was sentenced in a fodder scam case.

He appeared on January 17 before a court in another case related to the Fodder Scam.

Lalu is known to mince words against Prime Minister Modi; he attacked the center for stopping the Haj subsidy. He added that the BJP is carrying out its agenda of troubling the muslims.

He also took up the issue of Vishwa Hindu Parishad international working president Pravin Togadia’s claim that there was an attempt to the assassinate him in an encounter and is surprised by the fact that Mr. Togadia has been given Z-Plus category security.

Benefits not passed on to pilgrims

The Union Government had on Tuesday stopped Haj subsidy for pilgrims on annual pilgrimage to Mecca. Some have hailed the move as time and the money saved will be used for welfare projects for the minorities. However, skeptics contend that the subsidy is not beneficial for the pilgrims and instead helps to keep the loss-making National Carrier, Air India afloat.
