According to Congress supporters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on the verge of becoming the next Hitler. They said that India is slowly turning into a fascist nation, where its leader is harsh towards certain communities. “Modi is abolishing the powers of the states and the existence of non-RSS political parties. Hitler did the same with non-Nazi parties,” said a user on Twitter.

The Congress also accused the ruling BJP of harassing the former’s party members. “Leaders and members of other parties who switch over to the BJP (like Rane and Himanta) suddenly become 'clean' and cases against Janardhan Reddy and Yeddyurappa who were indicted in the coal mining scandal are being diluted.” said a Congress supporter.

The Congress also accused the ruling BJP of misusing Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate to target the leaders of the Opposition in Karnataka. The part pointed out that this action not only damages the fabric of democracy, but it also impinges on the impending elections in Karnataka.

On Thursday, the Karnataka State Congress held a protest against the BJP for abusing the offices of Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate, and the Central Bureau of Investigation to target Congress leaders in Karnataka.

The central government is misusing the powers vested by the Constitution of India, the Congress supporters said.

The Congress also pointed out that by showing support to former chief minister B.S Yeddyurappa who was indicted in the land identification scam, they are placing their trust in someone who deceived the people of Karnataka.

False promises

The Congress also accused the BJP of making false promises to the people of India. The anti-BJP protesters said that Modi’s 2014 election campaign was run purely on the basis of raising false hope. This was an initiative by the BJP-RSS to attain power at any cost so that the party can pass on the benefits to its crony capitalist friends.

the Congress alleged.

Many pointed out that the people-friendly government of Dr. Manmohan Singh was way better than Modi’s anti-people government, which has done nothing but made promises that it cannot keep.

The Congress also called the BJP “spineless” for writing off corporate debts that amount to millions and not the debt of poor farmers.

“The BJP in Karnataka is so spineless that instead of asking the Central government to waive off loans of poor farmers, the party is giving accountancy lessons on Twitter. Indian citizens will not be fooled,” they said.

The Cambridge Analytica Scandal

Meanwhile, both the BJP and the Congress have been pointing fingers at each other for using Cambridge Analytica, the digital management firm that’s now under scrutiny for stealing data from over 50 million users in the US. Cambridge Analytica was the company used by Donald Trump during the 2016 US elections. SCL India, a venture between the SCL Group and Ovleno Business Intelligence, had made it public that both the BJP and the Congress are its clients.

The digital media head of Congress, actress Ramya a.ka. Divya Spandana said that the party has its own analytics team and has never used Cambridge Analytica or the companies associated with the firm to gather data.

On Wednesday, minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is in charge of India’s Information technology department, said that if need be they would call Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg to come to India to testify. He also issued a strict warning to Zuckerberg, stating that the country does not tolerate data theft or interference in its elections.”India has got stringent power in the IT Act, we shall use it, including summoning you,” he said.
