Narendra Modi-led bjp has snatched the ninth seat in Uttar Pradesh. All nine candidates of the BJP in the UP won the Rajya Sabha election. After Phulpur and Gorakhpur bye-poll loss, BJP has indeed turned the tables. According to reports, MLAs from Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) cross-voted for the BJP. BSP candidate Ambedkar got 35 votes, two short of 37 and BJP got 22 votes with its candidate Anil Agarwal winning by second preference votes. SP’s Jaya Bachchan has also claimed victory.

Media analysts say that there is a strong bond between the SP-BSP alliance.

Political analysts are blaming the BJP for using money and muscle power to win votes. “BJP wins 9th Rajya Sabha seat from UP, Mayawati loses out. BJP wins RS battle but could it just have given the opposition hope for the 2019 'war'? A Maya-Akhilesh alliance in 2019 looks increasingly likely now, the only 'real' threat to BJP in must-win UP next year,” tweeted renowned political journalist Rajdeep Sardesai.

The SP-BSP alliance just got buried with this verdict. It will be difficult for them to put up a strong fight together in 2019. The UP politics has always been quite unpredictable, tweeted another user.
