Opposition parties like the Congress and CPI (M) have moved an impeachment motion against CJI Dipak Misra. However, finance minister Arun Jaitley hit back, saying it's a Congress conspiracy.

A user on Twitter noted that the real motive of Impeachment motion against CJI Dipak Misra is to stop Ram Mandir hearings and verdict, delay its construction, and thereafter to avoid CJI's decision to review polygamy, halal and burka traditions of Islam.

Minhaz Merchant, who wrote the biography of Rajiv Gandhi, said that the Congress strategy to impeach CJI Misra is to drag the impeachment process for as long as possible, discredit CJI Dipak Misra and unnerve him over the Ayodhya judgement, which, if it orders Ram Mandir to be built, will hit Opposition in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Some said that the Congress wanted Justice Loya and Ayodhya case to drag on till the 2019 elections. After Loya verdict, any adverse judgment in Ram Mandir case will washout 2019. “Impeachment move is meant to delay and discredit the Ayodhya case,” said a user on Twitter.

Many opined that the four judges who accused the CJI are part of a larger conspiracy.
