Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has urged Congress president Rahul Gandhi to ask pertinent questions to the current chief minister about the lack of development in Bangalore.

“Improving the city's infrastructure has been the state government’s least priority. Can you ask why?” Yeddyurappa asked on Twitter, condemning chief minister Siddaramaiah who, in his opinion, has not done much in the development of the city’s infrastructure.

On Twitter, Yeddyurappa posted a video, which contained a list of questions that Rahul Gandhi must ask Siddaramaih during his visit to the city on Sunday.

Titled “Questions to Rahul Gandhi - Part 1,” the content in the video compared the present day Bangalore to the good old days when people from all walks of life used to frequent the city’s parks to discuss ideas.

However, due to the substandard civil amenities and poor public transportation, the city is losing its sheen, the video suggested.

BJP poses hard questions

“Ask CM Siddaramaiah why improving Bangalore’s infrastructure had been his least priority in the last 5 years. Why has he made Bangaloreans wake up daily to see gridlocked roads and heaps of garbage?” BJP said.

“Why has he made hundreds of international investors, who have invested billions of dollars in Bangalore to see nightmarish headlines on collapsing infrastructure.

Why has he allowed BBMP to become dysfunctional and corruption to thrive? Why has he completely ignored high revenue-generation East Bangalore — KR Puram, Marthahalli, Sarjapur, Electronic City— by not connecting them to an efficient public transportation system or the Metro.

Why did he not stop the Rs 1800 crore Hebbal flyover project until he faced an allegation of getting a kickback of Rs65 crore?”

The video suggested that there’s still hope for Bangalore.

“All we need is a coordinated effort and a positive spirit among policymakers, civic agencies, and the citizens,” BJP said in its video.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, during his trip to Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi had breakfast at the home of Shri Srinivas who works as a sweeper with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

In his speech, Rahul Gandhi said that his fight against the BJP is not a political one.

“This is to protect and save the soul of Karnataka and we will win this fight,” he said.

Launching an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress president said that the country lost a lot of jobs due to the poor decisions made by the government. “Modi took away several thousands of jobs from Bangalore by snatching away the Rafale deal from HAL,” he said.

Meanwhile Congress through its Twitter account hurled insults at Modi” “For four long years, PM Modi has dished out jumlas after jumlas, while reneging on his promise of providing 2 crore jobs to the youth every year,” the tweet said.

He also added that Modi knows that time is running out and the Congress will soon come to power. He is “scared” and “confused,” said Rahul Gandhi.

“The Congress in Karnataka is going to defeat the RSS and BJP's ideology and send them packing. Later, we will defeat them in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and, finally, in the Lok Sabha elections next year,” said the optimistic Congress chief.

He also accused the Prime Minister of being friends with Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, the looters who stole millions from the Indian banks.

On Sunday morning in Bangalore, Rahul Gandhi interacted with Paura Karmikas (sanitation workers) at Jakkarayana Kere and the representatives from the business community.

He also met former Rajasthan Governor Smt Margaret Alva to offer his condolence on the passing away of her husband Shri Niranjan Alva.
