Why do we have only 11 awards to be given by the president, Ram Nath Kovind while the other 88 of them are being awarded by the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Smriti Irani.

It was a surprising last moment protest as this has always been this way where President Kovind stays not more than an hour in any award night.

Press secretary, Ashok Malik has informed about just 11 special awards will be given by the president to Information and Broadcasting Ministry more than a week ago.

These 11 special awards include Sridevi and Vinod Khanna.

The award for the late sensational actress, Sridevi was collected by her husband, Boney Kapoor and two of their daughters Janhvi and Khushi for her role in her last film, "Mom."

The late actor, Vinod Khanna's family is going to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke award which is India's highest film honor, for him at the ceremony.

The Bollywood actors and singers do not want to boycott the award ceremony but they feel it be unfair on their parts for not being awarded by the president.

Noted singer KJ Yesudas, Bengali director Kaushik Ganguly, and Fahadh Faasil have written and signed a letter to the president about their concern and in reply, they have got nothing helpful.

Many actors are offended by the thought of not receiving a national award by the president.

They stated, if people think an award is just an award and nothing bigger than that then we do not need a ceremony for it, it can be sent via posts to the respective.

President Kovind in his address talked about Sridevi and Vinod Khanna; he said, “We miss them today, and we will miss them forever. Their films like "Lamheä and "Mere Apne" captured not only the box office but also the minds of the audience."
