Basketball is relatively popular in India and it's played in almost every school. However, very few people follow it professionally as there are other sports, such as cricket, that are more appealing to watch. Despite the lack of general interest in professional basketball, India has both men's and women's national basketball teams.

Some players that came from India even made it to the NBA, which is the most popular basketball league in the world. In this article, I will count down the five tallest basketball players from India.

1. Amjyot Singh

Amjyot Singh is 203 cm tall and he is only 25.

Singh has changed three different professional teams during his basketball career and he currently plays for the Oklahoma City Blue in NBA's G League. Born in Chandigarh, this young player has come far and there is a chance we will see him play in the NBA one day.

Singh has appeared in 17 games for the Blue this season, averaging 1.3 points per game.

2. Ravi Bhardwaj

Just like Amjyot Singh, Ravi Bhardwaj is 203 cm tall and he's also 25. Bhardwaj went undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft and he started his playing career in 2015 with the Punjab Steelers. This has been his only professional team and he is averaging 10 points per game with the Steelers this season.

Ravi Bhardwaj was selected as the MVP of the first season of UBA Pro League in 2015.

3. Rikin Pethani

Another Indian basketball player on the list who is 203 cm tall is Pethani. Rikin Pethani went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft and he currently plays for the Chennai Slam in India. In six games played this season, Pethani is one of the best scorers in the league as he is averaging 14.8 points per game. He is also tied for the second place in rebounding with 10.2 rebounds per game.

Pethani was a cricket player until the eighth grade, but a coach discovered his talent for basketball and he's been playing the sport ever since then.

4. Amritpal Singh

Unlike the first three players on the list, Amritpal Singh is 212 cm tall and he currently plays for the Sydney Kings of the National Basketball League. Singh is a 27-year-old center who has changed five different teams during his professional career.

He became an NBDL champion with the Tokyo Excellence in 2016.

Amritpal Singh has appeared in 18 games for the Kings this season, averaging 2.4 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.

5. Satnam Singh Bhamara

Satnam Singh Bhamara made history as the first Indian-born player to be drafted by an NBA team. Singh Bhamara is 218 cm tall and he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the 52nd pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Unfortunately, the big man hasn't appeared in an NBA game yet as he was assigned to the Mavericks' G League affiliate, the Texas Legends.

The center is only 22 and there is no doubt that his future is bright. It won't be surprising if he makes his NBA debut very soon.
