With the Nidahas Trophy just around the corner, Bangladesh has roped in the duties of Courtney Walsh, the retired West Indian express bowler who will assist as the coach of the Bangladesh side. Walsh is serving Bangladesh cricket since 2016 as a bowling coach. However, he has been assigned the responsibility of a full coach now.

Bangladesh has been without a full-time coach after Chandika Hathurusingha who served as the team’s coach for the last three years quit the post to help his nation’s team which was in dire straits. Walsh said that he loved working in trying conditions and this prompted to take the job of the bowling coach and now the full-fledged coach of the nation’s team.

Bangladesh on a losing streak

Bangladesh has been going through a poor patch and after they lost a Test and Twenty20 home series against Sri Lanka.

Speaking to press about Welsh’s employment, BCB president Nazamul Hassan said that his team would benefit from his vast experience.

Nidahas Trophy 2018

The Tri-nation T20 series will start on March 6, and Bangladesh has already announced a 16-man squad for the series.

All-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan was initially selected, but a trifling finger injury makes him unlikely to play in the series.

Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan will fill in as back-up. The concern of the Bangladesh Team can be judged by the fact that the Board made an unsuccessful request to fast bowler Mashrafa Mortaza to come out from his retirement from the shortest format of the game to feature in the tournament.

India is the third country to participate in the tournament. Their squad will be without their star players skipper Virat Kohli, wicketkeeper MS Dhoni and a couple of fast bowlers. Mumbai India skipper Rohit Sharma has got the chance to captain the national team. This series also provides a good chance for players who are participating in the upcoming Indian Premier League.

All games will start at 7 PM India time.
