Mumbai Indian's disciplined show with the bat and ball scripted an eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings at the MCA International Stadium in Pune on April 28, 2018.

After Mumbai won the toss and put Chennai into bat, they didn't allow the Chennai's opening pair to get going during the powerplay. Krunal Pandya finally dismissed Watson in the fifth over to get a perfect start. But along with Raina, Rayudu built a good partnership to keep things moving swiftly.

Rayudu's dismissal brought Dhoni to the crease who chipped in with a few runs as well.

Raina's 47-ball 75 kept Chennai in the game as they reached the score of 169 for five at the end of 20 overs. For Mumbai, Mitchell McClenaghan bowled a tight spell off two for 26 in four overs, whereas Markande and Hardik got the other wickets. At that time, it seemed they were 10 or 15 runs short because the wicket in Pune was suiting the batsmen well.

Mumbai Indians started the chase in a brisk mode as Suryakumar Yadav continued his good form. But when Harbhajan Singh picked his wicket, things seem to be slipping away from the hands of the Mumbai team. Their captain Rohit Sharma came in at three and scored a beautiful half-century which ensured that Mumbai doesn't lose the plot.

Evin Lewis supported him well in the middle, but he got out when Mumbai still needed 42 runs from the last four overs. In the end, Rohit Sharma's innings of 56 and Hardik Pandya's cameo ensured a second victory for Mumbai Indians in this year's IPL with two balls to spare. Rohit Sharma received the man of the match award for his brilliant knock under pressure.

Chennai stays on top of the table with a good run-rate and five wins from seven matches while Mumbai rises to the 6th position with two wins from seven matches, along with a run-rate in a positive figure.

Super Kings will next face Delhi at this very venue in a couple of days while Mumbai will travel to Bengaluru to face RCB on May 1, 2018.
