The opening ceremony of the Vivo IPL 2018 will be a grand affair and viewers are sure to be mesmerized by a glitzy show by top Bollywood and media big Whigs.

The 11th edition of the IPL 2018 will open on Saturday, April 7, 2018, with the first league match to be played between Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Mumbai Indians. It will be one of the biggest and most glamorous cricketing events of all times.

Bollywood actors to perform in the opening ceremony

The two-month long cricketing extravaganza will begin on April 7 with an army of Bollywood and Tollywood stars performing and celebrating the game of cricket.

The performers include top Bollywood heartthrobs — hrithik roshan who with his cool moves will enthrall the audience with Varun Dhawan and Prabhu Deva.

Adding to the glamour will be singers, Mika Singh who will mesmerize his audience with his hit numbers. The stage will be shared with the two leading divas of Bollywood and Tollywood — Jacqueline Fernandez and Tamannaah Bhatia, who will titillate the audience with their dance numbers. The artists will be amply supported by drums, trumpets, pied pipers and hundreds of supporting artists who will collectively mesmerize the audience.

CSK vs MI

The opening match will also be particular since Chennai Super Kings will be returning to IPL after a two years suspension and will be led by the former Indian Skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni. Dashing Indian opener, Rohit Sharma will lead Mumbai Indians who are the defending champions.

With each passing year, the IPL saga is getting bigger and more and more expansive. This year’s IPL is unique because of the return of two franchises – Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals both were debarred for two years after match-fixing allegations.

MS Dhoni vs Virat Kohli

The two franchises however never moved out of the realm of popularity, and their fans remained ever more loyal. With Dhoni back with Chennai Super Kings fans are expecting a significant showdown between Dhoni and Virat Kohli. It will be interesting to see how the present and former skipper of the national side will cross swords with one another.

For Virat Kohli, it will be another unfinished agenda, and he would surely like to get his hands on the elusive trophy for his franchisee RCB. CSK will be looking for their third trophy, and the Royals would be hoping that Shane Warne will inspire his team to win the cup after a gap of 10 years.

Mumbai Indians, not favorites?

Mumbai Indians this time around are not keen to be tagged as hot favorites because according to their coach, Mahela Jayawardene, the team has to start from the scratch. The franchise is under pressure because it is the defending champion. Coach Mahela is advocating a piece by piece approach and strategies to be evolved for one game at a time. Mahela further added that after the auction the composition of the teams have changed, and new players have been inducted.

New strategies will have to be evolved according to changing situations. Mahila is happy to see that Mumbai Indians have been able to retain its core players. Still, he would sorely miss two players - Lasith Malinga who has retired from active cricket (but still will remain with Mumbai Indians as its mentor) and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh who will play for CSK.
