Kolkata Knight Riders hosted Chennai Super Kings in a night game at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 3, 2018. The hosts beat Chennai by six wickets in a see-saw battle which at one time seemed to be going down to the wire. It was a collective performance from KKR which gave them their fifth victory of the season.

The KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik won the toss and put CSK into bat on a good surface. Chennai got a rapid start with all the top three batsmen getting quick runs in the powerplay.

CSK skipper MS Dhoni top scored with 43 runs from 25 balls.

Eventually, they got a score of 177 for 5 at the end of 20 overs. Sunil Narine was the star with the ball, as he took two wickets for 20 runs in his spell of four overs.

KKR's chase began in drastic fashion as Chris Lynn hit two sixes and then got out. Robin Uthappa couldn't hold on for long, but Sunil Narine kept things moving as he scored 32 runs off 20 balls.

After this, U-19 star Shubnam Gill scored a brilliant half-century, scoring 57 runs from 36 balls and combined with his captain Dinesh Karthik, who scored 45 runs from 18 balls, to take KKR home.

For Chennai, Harbhajan Singh bowled an economical spell of one wicket for 20 runs in three overs. KKR chased down the score with 2.2 overs to spare and with six wickets in hands.

Sunil Narine won the man of the match award for his all-around performance. KKR moved to the third position on the table as CSK slipped to the second position.

Chennai will now travel Bangalore to play them on May 5 and Kolkata will face Mumbai.
