Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 runs in a thriller of a match which went down to the last ball, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on May 7, 2018. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and Virat Kohli decided to bowl first.

After they were put into bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad started poorly as they lost both their openers before the powerplay was over. One more wicket, saw them reeling at 48-3 after 8.2 overs. This was when captain Kane Williamson joined hands with Shakib Al Hasan in order to build a partnership.

They took their team to a somewhat good position of respect before Kane Williamson got out in the 16th over with SRH at 112-4. They kept losing regular wickets in the death overs, courtesy of some superb bowling from the men in red. They ended up getting all out for 146 from exactly 20 overs.

Tim Southee and Mohammed Siraj got three wickets each, while Williamson top-scored for SRH with 56 runs from 39 balls. Bangalore began their chase of 147 runs rapidly with Parthiv Patel and then Virat Kohli attacking the SRH bowling unit in the powerplay.

But the men in orange came back with wickets in quick succession. Kohli, de Villers, and Moeen Ali got out in three consecutive overs. This meant RCB were struggling at 85-5 after 12 overs.

This brought Mandeep Singh and Colin de Grandhomme to the crease. They compiled together taking the game forward. The equation was brought down to just 19 from 12 balls, then 12 from the last over and finally 6 runs were required from the last ball.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar bowled a brilliant yorker to knock off the stumps of de Grandhomme. All the bowlers of SRH at least got one wicket, with Shakib Al Hasan getting two. For RCB, a few got starts but no one could capitalize on that to take them home as they ended at 141-6 in 20 overs.

Kane Williamson won the man of the match award for his half-century.

The result of this match means Sunrisers have made it into the qualifiers, while RCB are now in a tougher situation where their chances of qualification have become even bleaker. Sunrisers will travel to Delhi to play their next game on May 10 while Royal Challengers' next game is also in Delhi on May 12.
